REFLECTION
Experience - I think the overall module was quite heavy, but I learned a lot of very useful knowledge from it. The knowledge of letters and typefaces is very practical for me as an advertising student. Texts play a very important role in the advertisement, they help us planners to convey our message to our audience. Therefore, choosing the right typeface for the advertisement is very important. In addition, this course also deepened my application of various Adobe software, for example, I became more familiar with the functions and tools in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign software. Although I still have many shortcomings to learn and strengthen, I really feel that I have improved a lot through this course. Although there were many setbacks in the course work, I was able to learn more with each feedback from Mr Vinod. I am very happy and satisfied with this. After all, no one can reach a very high level at once, but only after experiencing setbacks can we improve.
Observation - After watching the pre-recorded lecture videos, I deepened my knowledge of typography a lot. Afterwards, through the tasks given, I was able to deepen my impression through practical exercises. Through this course, I learned to observe the details of the captions in each typeface, the variations in their characteristics and the visual differences in typeface design. In addition to that, I am able to analyse the typography of the text and the fonts it uses when I look at other works. Looking at what the pairing of the two brings to the work, what kind of message it conveys, etc.
Findings - An important finding I've noticed throughout the module is that sometimes it's good design to keep things simple. Too many elements just make your work look confusing, since the viewer may not able to differentiate which one is the main thing you enhancing in your work. Also, I also found that when designing a work, doing some research and drawing multiple sketches will help you to compare which design is better.
